Warga Palangka Raya Sukarela Serahkan Owa Kalawat Ke BKSDA Kalteng

Seekor owa kalawat (Hylobates muelleri) berusia 6 bulan, yang diberi nama “Bubu”, diserahkan oleh warga Muara Teweh, Kalimantan Tengah kepada Tim WRU SKW I Balai KSDA Kalimantan Tengah. pada Senin, 7 Oktober 2024.

Menurut keterangan yang diterima, Bubu ini ditemukan dalam kondisi yang tidak memungkinkan untuk bertahan hidup di alam bebas. Akhirnya Bubu dipelihara selama 5 bulan untuk memastikan kesehatannya. Setelah dipelihara, warga Muara Teweh memutuskan untuk menyerahkan kepada pihak yang berwenang agar Bubu mendapatkan perawatan yang lebih baik dan menjalani proses rehabilitasi.

Setelah tiba di kandang transit SKW I Palangka Raya, Bubu akan menjalani serangkaian proses rehabilitasi yang dirancang untuk mempersiapkannya kembali ke habitat alami. Proses ini mencakup pemantauan kesehatan, pemberian pakan yang sesuai, serta pelatihan keterampilan bertahan hidup yang diperlukan.

“Rehabilitasi adalah langkah penting untuk memastikan bahwa Bubu dapat mandiri dan beradaptasi kembali di alam. Kami akan memberikan perawatan dan perhatian maksimal agar ia dapat belajar mencari makanan dan berinteraksi dengan spesies lain di habitatnya,” ungkap salah satu anggota tim rehabilitasi.

Kegiatan penyerahan Bubu ini mencerminkan komitmen masyarakat dan lembaga terkait dalam menjaga kelestarian keanekaragaman hayati. Tim WRU SKW I Balai KSDA Kalimantan Tengah mengajak masyarakat untuk berpartisipasi dalam upaya penyelamatan satwa liar.

“Kami mengucapkan terima kasih kepada semua pihak yang telah berkontribusi dalam penyelamatan Bubu. Setiap langkah kecil menuju konservasi satwa liar sangat berarti bagi kelangsungan hidup spesies yang terancam punah,” tambah perwakilan dari Tim WRU SKW I.

Owa kalawat ini termasuk ke dalam jenis satwa dilindungi sesuai dengan Peraturan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan Nomor P.106 tahun 2018. Berdasarkan Undang-Undang Nomor 5 Tahun 1990 Tentang Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam Hayati dan Ekosistemnya, setiap orang dilarang untuk menangkap, melukai, membunuh, memiliki, menyimpan, memelihara, mengangkut, dan memperniagakan satwa tersebut.
