Pandemi Virus Corona Dimulai dari Perdagangan Satwa Liar. Kok Bisa?

Pandemi virus corona (COVID-19) masih berlanjut. Hingga tulisan ini dibuat, ada 2.973.264 jiwa dinyatakan terjangkit wabah yang disebabkan virus SARS-CoV-2 ini.

Di Indonesia sendiri, angka positif COVID-19 menyentuh angka 9.000 jiwa, tertinggi di Asia Tenggara.

Ahli menyimpulkan bahwa COVID-19 adalah wabah zoonosis, dimana virus ini bermula dari satwa liar kemudian “meloncat” ke manusia.

Kondisi pasar yang kotor dan terdiri dari berbagai macam satwa liar yang diperdagangkan di Pasar Grosir Huanan, Tiongkok menjadi lingkungan yang cocok bagi wabah seperti COVID-19 muncul.

Satwa liar di alam memiliki penyakitnya sendiri. Dan ini normal ketika tidak ada interaksi dengan manusia.

Di pasar satwa seperti di Wuhan, interaksi satwa liar dan manusia sangat tinggi. Ini yang menyebabkan virus pada satwa liar menjangkiti manusia.

Dari sinilah awal mula virus itu menyerang dari manusia ke manusia.

Pandemi virus corona seperti ini sebelumnya sudah terjadi yaitu SARS dan MERS beberapa tahun lalu, apakah kita mau mengulanginya di masa depan?

Tentu tidak!

Perdagangan satwa liar memang harus dihentikan, karena tidak saja buruk pada satwa liar. Namun juga buruk saat menjadi wabah seperti saat ini.

Selain itu, perdagangan satwa liar itu adalah faktor penyebab kepunahan kedua setelah perusakan habitat satwa liar.
