Owa Peliharaan Diamankan BKSDA Setelah Gigit Anak Kecil

Seekor owa peliharaan diamankan oleh petugas Seksi Konservasi Wilayah I Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Kalimantan Timur setelah menggigit seorang anak kecil di Kecamatan Sambaliung, Kab. Berau, Kalimantan Timur.

Owa peliharaan itu dilaporkan menyerang seorang anak hingga dilarikan ke fasilitas kesehatan terdekat akibat digigit oleh primata dilindungi itu.

Kepala Seksi Konservasi Wilayah I BKSDA Kalimantan Timur, Dheny Mardiono mengatakan bahwa pihaknya akan membawa owa itu ke Pusat Penyelamatan Satwa (PPS) Longsam di Merasa, Kab. Berau.

“Saat ini owa itu masih di kandang transit SKW I Berau. owa tersebut sudah berada dalam pengawasan petugas untuk dilakukan rehabilitasi dan dilepasliarkan kembali ke habitatnya,” ujarnya pada Senin (1/8.2022) seperti dilansir dari tvonenews.com

Awalnya, pihak BKSDA menyangka satwa liar yang menyerang anak kecil tersebut adalah monyet liar, namun saat didatangi ternyata satwa tersebut adalah owa. Petugas kemudian meminta pemilik owa agar menyerahkan satwa dilindungi itu ke BKSDA Kalimantan Timur.

“Anak yang digigit berusia enam tahun. Kabarnya juga sempat dibawa ke IGD. Pemiliknya juga menyadari kesalahannya dan tidak keberatan menyerahkan owa itu ke BKSDA,” jelas Dheny.

Adapun jenis owa yang diamankan itu berjenis kelamin jantan dewasa. Berdasarkan pengakuan si pemilik, owa itu merupakan pemberian dari saudaranya dari Kabupaten Bulungan, Kalimantan Utara.

Dheny menuturkan penyerangan terhadap anak kecil tersebut dikarenakan owa memiliki sifat alami agresif dan liar. Penyerangan itu merupakan bentuk pertahanan dari satwa liar apabila merasa terganggu dan terancam. “Sejinak apapun atau selama apapun satwa itu dipelihara, tetap memiliki sifat liar dan buas,” tuturnya.

Dirinya juga mengingatkan bahwa menangkap, memelihara, menyimpan, memperjualbelikan satwa yang dilindungi dan terancam punah dapat dikenakan pidana. Hal itu diatur dalam Undang-Undang Nomor 5 Tahun 1990 tentang Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam dan Ekosistemnya.

“Sanksi pidana bagi orang yang sengaja melanggar adalah hukuman pidana penjara paling lama 5 tahun dan denda paling banyak Rp 100 juta,” pungkasnya.
