Balai Besar Taman Nasional Gunung Gede Pangrango (BBTNGGP) bersama Balai Besar Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BBKSDA) Jawa Barat dan Yayasan Owa Jawa telah sukses melaksanakan pelepasliaran primata endemik jawa yakni owa jawa (Hylobates moloch) di Kawasan Gunung Puntang, Resort Pemangkuan Hutan (RPH) Lembur Awi, Kecamatan Cimaung, Kabupaten Bandung pada Sabtu (10/08/2024)

Lima individu owa jawa yang dilepasliarkan bernama Cepi, Nitnot, Oke, Joan, dan Mowgli. Sebelum dilepasliarkan, owa jawa ini telah menjalani proses rehabilitasi di Yayasan Owa Jawa.

Kegiatan pelepasliaran ini merupakan salah satu upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan populasi owa jawa di habitatnya.

Acara tersebut turut dihadiri oleh Direktur Yayasan Owa Jawa Noviar Andrayani, Administratur KPH Bandung Selatan Lily Kurnia Asih, BBKSDA Jawa Barat, dan perwakilan Taman Nasional Gunung Pangrango.

Noviar Andrayani, Direktur Yayasan Owa Jawa, mengatakan, “Kawasan hutan di Gunung Puntang memiliki zona inti dengan nilai konservasi tinggi, yang dikelola dengan baik oleh Perhutani KPH Bandung Selatan”. 

Kegiatan ini menjadi langkah signifikan dalam upaya pelestarian satwa endemik dan perlindungan habitat alami mereka. 

“Pelepasliaran owa jawa ini merupakan bagian dari upaya kami untuk meningkatkan nilai ekosistem berkelanjutan dan melestarikan keanekaragaman hayati. Komitmen bersama ini penting untuk menjaga kelestarian alam,” tambahnya.

Selanjutnya, tim monitoring dari Yayasan Owa Jawa akan memantau perkembangan hariannya dengan cara mengikuti pergerakan dan perilaku adaptasinya selama satu tahun.
