Sering ngamuk, seekor owa peliharaan diserahkan warga Sampit ke Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Kalimantan Tengah pada Sabtu (21/5/2022).
Owa tersebut diserahkan setelah dipelihara warga selama 7 tahun di rumahnya.
Komandan BKSDA Pos Jaga Sampit, Muriansyah mengatakan bahwa awalnya seorang warga melaporkan keberadaan owa di rumah tantenya melalui call center BKSDA Kalteng.
“Kami menerima laporan dari Kiki, kemenakan warga yang memelihara owa. Owa peliharaan ini ingin diserahkan karena kasihan sendirian dan sudah mulai mengamuk,” katanya seperti dikutip dari borneonews.id

Muriansyah menuturkan petugas pos Sampit melakukan pengecekan ke rumah Nurita, pemelihara owa. Menurut keterangannya, owa didapat dari warga Kecamatan Antang Kalang dan sudah dipelihara sekitar 7 tahun.
“Owa peliharaan berjenis kelamin betina itu diperkirakan berusia 8 tahun. Saat ditemukan owa diperkirakan baru berusia sekitar 1 tahun di wilayah Utara Kotawaringin Timur dan dipelihara Nurita,” tuturnya.

Kemudian, lanjutnya, tim WRU SKW II dan Yayasan OF UK melakukan serah terima satwa dilindungi tersebut. Saat ini owa tersebut berada di kandang transit kantor SKW II Pangkalan Bun untuk dilakukan pemeriksaan dan pengamatan perilakunya.
“Kami mengimbau warga yang masih memelihara satwa liar maupun dilindungi agar segera menyerahkan kepada petugas. Sebab memelihara satwa dilindungi merupakan perbuatan melanggar hukum,” himbau Muriansyah.
