Seekor owa kalawat (Hylobates muelleri) peliharaan warga diserahkan ke Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Kalimantan Tengah di Kabupaten Murung Raya, Kalimantan Tengah pada Selasa (18/07/2022).
Sebelumnya, Amang Irin, warga jembatan Dirung Baju Puruk, Kabupaten Murung Raya telah merawat owa kalawat tersebut selama 10 tahun.
Owa yang diberi nama Olan itu berjenis kelamin betina dan dibeli Amang seharga Rp. 500 ribu dari warga desa Mangkahoi pada tahun 2011.
Kepala BKSDA Kalimantan Tengah, Nur Patria mengatakan bahwa proses evakuasi owa peliharaan bernama Olan itu dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat bantu berupa senjata bius.
“Setelah dilakukan pembiusan, satwa segera dipindahkan ke kandang transit, kemudian dilakukan penandatanganan Berita Acara Serah Terima Satwa (BAST) antara petugas dengan pemilik satwa serta dilakukan pencatatan data morfometrik serta pemeriksaan kesehatan satwa,” ujarnya dilansir dari laman KSDAE

Berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan kondisi fisik, lanjutnya, owa peliharaan tersebut belum siap untuk dilepasliarkan karena telah lama berinteraksi dengan manusia dan perlu dilakukan rehabilitasi sehingga dititipkan di Yayasan Kalaweit.
Menurutnya perlindungan satwa liar diatur dalam Peraturan Pemerintah Nomor 7 Tahun 1999 tentang Pengawetan Jenis Tumbuhan dan Satwa Liar serta Undang-Undang Nomor 5 Tahun 1990 Tentang Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam Hayati dan Ekosistem.
“Yang menerangkan bahwa jika seseorang dengan sengaja memelihara satwa liar, ia bisa dikenai sanksi penjara maksimal 5 tahun dan denda Rp 100 juta,” kata Nur.
Menurutnya, memelihara satwa liar yang dilindungi juga akan membahayakan sang pemelihara. Karena sifat alami satwa tersebut akan perlahan muncul.
“Mengimbau kepada masyarakat jika menjumpai atau menemukan satwa itu agar di laporkan, jangan dilukai, dibunuh maupun dipelihara. Hal itu bertujuan untuk lestarinya satwa-satwa yang dilindungi yang terancam punah dan menjaga keseimbangan alam di Bumi Tambun Bungai,” tuturnya.
