Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Ketapang bersama PT. Gemilang Makmur Subur (GMS), yang merupakan bagian dari Bumitama Gunajaya Agro (BGA Group). Telah sukses melaksanakan pelepasliaran primata endemik kalimantan yakni owa jenggot-putih (Hylobates albibarbis) di area High Conservation Value (HCV) Kawasan Ekosistem Esensial (KKE) di Kabupaten Ketapang, Kecamatan Matan Hilir Utara, Kalimantan Barat pada Jum’at (13/09/2024)
Owa jenggot-putih yang dilepasliarkan berjenis kelamin jantan,yang diperkirakan berusia sekitar 9 tahun. Owa yang dilepasliaran ini merupakan serahan sukarela dari masyarakat di Kecamatan Sandai, Kabupaten Ketapang, dalam kondisi sehat dan telah menjalani proses rehabilitasi .
Pelepasliaran ini didukung penuh oleh Adi Susilo dan Yoga Budihandoko, selaku PEH Ahli Pertama dari Seksi Konservasi Wilayah I Ketapang, yang bekerja sama dengan PT. GMS.
Dikutip dari sawitindonesia.com, pemilihan lokasi pelepasliaran di area High Conservation Value (HCV) ini mengikuti keberhasilan pelepasliaran dua individu owa sebelumnya yang bernama, Mona dan Wuwu, di lokasi yang sama.
BGA Group menunjukkan komitmen jangka panjang terhadap konservasi lingkungan dengan mengelola area HCV seluas 8.311 hektar melalui PT GMS dan PT DAS. Salah satu upaya konservasi yang signifikan adalah pelepasliaran Owa Kalimantan, yang terdaftar dalam CITES Appendix I dan dilindungi oleh Peraturan Pemerintah Nomor 7 Tahun 1999.
Dukungan berkelanjutan terhadap inisiatif ini menjadi bagian penting dari peran aktif BGA Group dalam melestarikan keanekaragaman hayati demi keberlanjutan lingkungan bagi generasi mendatang.
