Dipelihara Sejak Bayi, Seekor Owa Diserahkan Warga ke BKSDA Kalteng

Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Kalimantan Tengah menerima seekor owa kalimantan dari warga Desa Pasir Panjang, Kecamatan Arut Selatan, Kotawaringin Barat, Kalimantan Tengah pada Selasa (11/01/2022).

Menurut keterangan dari warga, owa yang diserahkan secara sukarela itu didapatkan dari pemberian masyarakat di daerah Kalimantan Barat pada pertengahan tahun 2019. Saat diberikan, usia owa tersebut masih bayi.

Dilansir dari akun Instagram resmi BKSDA Kalteng, penyerahan owa tersebut berawal dari informasi masyarakat terkait warga Desa Pasir Panjang yang memelihara owa.

Mengetahui informasi tersebut, Tim WRU SKW II Pangkalan Bun melakukan penelusuran dan menemukan owa yang dipelihara warga di rumahnya. Tim menemui pemilik dan meminta owa diserahkan kepada BKSDA Kalteng.

Saat ini owa serahan warga tersebut telah dilepasliarkan kembali ke habitatnya di Suaka Margasatwa (SM) Lamandau pada Rabu (12/01/2022). SM Lamandau adalah salah satu kawasan konservasi yang dikelola oleh BKSDA SKW II Kalimantan Tengah dan merupakan satu-satunya suaka margasatwa yang terdapat di Provinsi Kalimantan Tengah.

Kawasan ini merupakan habitat alami beberapa jenis satwa sehingga diharapkan satwa yang dilepasliarkan di kawasan konservasi ini dapat berkembangbiak dengan baik dan bertambah populasinya.

Pihak BKSDA Kalteng mengucapkan terimakasih kepada semua masyarakat yang telah peduli akan kelestarian satwa liar dan semakin bahwa satwa liar dilindungi bukan untuk dipelihara dan membiarkannya di alam lebih baik untuk kelestariannya.
