Dipelihara 1 Tahun, Warga Palangka Raya Serahkan Owa Jenggot – Putih Ini ke BKSDA KalTeng

Seorang warga Palangka Raya menyerahkan seekor owa jenggot – putih (Hylobates albibarbis) yang dilindungi kepada Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Kalimantan Tengah. Tindakan ini dilakukan setelah warga tersebut baru mengetahui bahwa owa jenggot – putih merupakan satwa yang dilindungi oleh pemerintah Indonesia.

Warga bernama Bapak Murdi secara sukarela menghubungi BKSDA Kalteng untuk menyerahkan satwa tersebut pada Jum’at, 7 Juni 2024.

“Saat ini owa tersebut sementara ditempatkan di kandang transit Seksi Konservasi Wilayah (SKW) I,” ujar salah satu petugas BKSDA.

BKSDA Kalteng menyampaikan apresiasi yang tinggi kepada Bapak Murdi atas kesadaran dan tindakannya untuk menyerahkan owa jenggot – putih tersebut secara sukarela. “Kami sangat menghargai langkah yang diambil oleh Bapak Murdi. Harapan kami, tindakan ini dapat menginspirasi lebih banyak orang untuk melindungi dan melestarikan satwa-satwa yang dilindungi,” ujar perwakilan BKSDA Kalteng.

Owa jenggot-putih (Hylobates albibarbis), adalah salah satu spesies primata endemik Kalimantan yang statusnya terancam akibat perburuan dan kerusakan habitat. Langkah-langkah seperti yang dilakukan oleh Bapak Murdi sangat penting untuk mendukung upaya konservasi satwa liar di Indonesia.

BKSDA Kalteng terus mengimbau masyarakat untuk tidak memelihara satwa liar yang dilindungi dan segera melapor jika menemukan atau memelihara satwa-satwa tersebut. Kesadaran dan partisipasi aktif dari masyarakat sangat dibutuhkan untuk melindungi keanekaragaman hayati Indonesia.
