Ceritaku Ikut Kampanye Pelestarian Owa Jawa di Hari Owa Sedunia

Tahun ini dalam rangka memperingati Hari Owa Sedunia, Gibbonesia dan teman-teman Pusat Studi Komunikasi Lingkungan Universitas Padjajaran (Unpad) melaksanakan kegiatan kampanye pelestarian owa jawa dengan tujuan meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai owa jawa sebagai salah satu spesies primata yang terancam punah. Aku yang sedang melaksanakan magang dan menjadi bagian dari tim Gibbonesia mendapat kesempatan turut serta dalam kampanye ini.

Tepat pada hari Sabtu (21/10/2023) aku bersama tim Gibbonesia berangkat dari Bogor menuju Bandung. Bermalam di sebuah penginapan di Bandung kemudian keesokannya berangkat menuju lokasi kampanye yang ditentukan.

Kegiatan kampanye pelestarian owa jawa dilaksanakan pada hari Minggu (22/10/2023) di Lapangan Gasibu, Bandung, Jawa Barat. Untuk mendapatkan banyak perhatian dari target, kampanye dilakukan saat car free day, yang mana cukup banyak masyarakat beraktivitas mulai dari membeli jajan, jalan-jalan hingga olahraga. Aku sebagai bagian dari tim kampanye harus dengan percaya diri melakukan kampanye di depan banyak orang yang ada di Lapangan Gasibu. Dengan berbekal selembar poster tentang pelestarian owa jawa, aku berdiri di samping lapangan kemudian berkeliling untuk membuat konten edukasi bersama tim Gibbonesia.

Tahukah kalian? kampanye kali ini dilakukan dalam berbagai macam kegiatan yang dapat diikuti oleh masyarakat mulai dari mewarnai, bermain puzzle hingga pertunjukan pantomim. Aku yang notabene adalah mahasiswa konservasi pernah mendapatkan materi kuliah mengenai pendidikan konservasi. Di sini aku bisa melihat bagaimana teori-teori dari perkuliahan diimplementasikan secara langsung di lapangan, bagaimana teman-teman Gibbonesia dan Pusdikomling Unpad dengan semangatnya di tengah teriknya matahari pagi, berusaha menyampaikan pesan konservasi owa jawa kepada khalayak umum.

Selain berkeliling lapangan, aku juga mendapat kesempatan untuk melihat langsung teman-teman Pusdikomling Unpad menemani anak-anak yang sedang asiknya mewarnai dan memberikan penjelasan apa itu owa jawa dan pentingnya menjaga populasi owa jawa di alam. Tentunya disampaikan dengan bahasa anak-anak yang mudah dipahami ya.

Seni Pantomim dibawakan oleh Wanggi Hoed dan teman-teman Pusdikomling Unpad.

Tidak jauh dari tempat mewarnai, ada meja dimana masyarakat bisa memainkan puzzle. Siapa yang bisa menyelesaikan puzzle, bisa mendapatkan hadiah loh. Sayangnya aku tidak mendapat kesempatan untuk bermain puzzle karena mejanya sudah penuh.

Puncak keseruan dari kampanye kali ini adalah pertunjukan pantomim oleh teman-teman Pusdikomling Unpad dan Kang Wanggi Hoed. Dalam pertunjukan itu cerita yang disampaikan adalah kehidupan owa jawa sebagai satwa liar terganggu oleh adanya pemburu, pemburu datang dan menembak owa hingga mati. Aktivitas pemburu ini dikecam oleh teman-teman yang peduli terhadap keberadaan owa di habitatnya. Kegiatan perburuan liar yang saat ini masih bisa ditemukan dilapangan, sangat tidak patut untuk dilakukan karena mengancam keberadaan satwa yang nantinya dapat mempengaruhi kondisi habitatnya juga.

Dari kegiatan kampanye ini aku mendapatkan banyak poin penting yang sangat diperlukan dalam upaya pelestarian satwa liar. Pendidikan konservasi itu sangat penting bagi semua orang, mulai dari anak-anak hingga orang dewasa karena kehidupan satwa liar saat ini sangat membutuhkan kesadartahuan dan kepedulian dari berbagai macam usia. Semakin banyak orang yang tahu tentang owa jawa, diharapkan semakin menurun ancaman terhadap owa jawa.

Selain itu, pendidikan konservasi tidak hanya dilakukan di bangku pendidikan namun juga bisa melalui kegiatan yang sangat menyenangkan dan disesuaikan dengan usia dari penerima pesan.

Bukan hanya kami yang bisa menyuarakan kondisi owa jawa maupun satwa liar lainnya, tapi semua orang juga bisa. Jadikan dirimu sebagai salah satu orang yang berjuang untuk kehidupan owa jawa, dengan ikut menyuarakan dukungan pelestarian owa jawa dengan tidak memelihara owa jawa maupun satwa liar lainnya.
