Sejak 2 tahun lalu, Rimba masuk ke pusat rehabilitasi Yayasan IAR Indonesia. Gibbonesia sempat ngobrol dengan perawat satwa (keeper), Kang Wawan yang telah 12 bulan merawat Rimba di kandang rehabilitasi. Seperti apa sih cerita Wawan selama jadi keeper Rimba?
Sudah berapa lama jadi keeper rimba?
Saya baru setahun jadi keeper sejak rimba masuk. Cerita pas awal masuk ke kandang rehabilitasi umur Rimba masih muda (juvenile). Jadi tidak perlu ada perlakuan khusus seperti pemberian susu dan lainnya. Kalau malam dia sudah bisa sendiri, tidak perlu dijagain lagi.
Sebelumnya ketika Rimba masih bayi, dia diurus langsung oleh tim medis di kandang khusus yang dimonitor 24 jam.
Kalau kondisinya Rimba sekarang gimana?
Kalau kondisi Rimba sih sehat, pas dipindah kesini juga sehat. Kalau monyet kan biasanya mencret pas awal-awal masuk kandang, kalau rimba sehat aja sih gak pernah ada treatment pengobatan gitu. Init uh mungkin karena kebanyakan monyet kan dalam satu kandang digabung banyakan, jadi suka berantem dan luka. Kalau Rimba, satu kandang sendirian aja, jadi gak ada persaingan, enak aja dia mah.
Untuk makanan pun Rimba gak pernah pilih-pilih. Mungkin pas awal aja agak susah, tapi kalau sekarang sih engga. Perilaku abnormal juga tidak ada setelah diobservasi sama teman-teman keeper.

Bagaimana cerita kegiatan sehari-harinya rimba?
Biasanya untuk kegiatan sehari-hari kita bersihkan kandang Rimba di pagi hari. Sebelum dibersihkan, Rimba dipindahkan dulu ke kandang sebelahnya. Setelah dibersihkan Rimba diberikan enrichment atau pengkayaan kandang seperti biji-bijian. Lalu dikasih makan.
Untuk sehari, Rimba diberikan pakan sebanyak 6 kali. Satu jenis makanan setiap satu kali pemberian pakan. Jadi jam-jamnya itu jam 7, jam 9, jam 11, jam 1, jam 2, jam 3 dan jam 4. Kenapa kok gak sekalian aja kasih makannya. Pemberian makan seperti ini buat menambah aktivitas Rimba. Kalau misalnya dikasih makan pagi dan sore saja, nanti dia gak ada kegiatan di dalam kandang.
Nah, biar aktif, pemberian makanannya juga disebar, biar ada usahanya mencari makan. Jadi kita berikan di berbagai lokasi dalam kandang. nanti Rimba harus berayun untuk ambil di makanan.
Untuk pakan sendiri, Rimba diberikan pakan alami kaya tepus atau tebu. Kalau dulu waktu awal, Rimba belum bisa makan kayu tebu yang keras, jadi masih kita bantu kupas. Kalau sekarang tanpa dikupas juga Rimba sudah bisa makan sendiri.
Tadi ada enrichment yang diberikan pada Rimba, apa saja?
Untuk pemberiannya sendiri seminggu itu ada 7 jenis enrichment, setiap hari itu berubah-ubah. Jadi semua enrichment yang diberikan ke macaca juga diberikan pada Rimba. Karena kita juga istilahnya baru kali ini menangani owa. Ternyata sih ya sama aja, yang penting dia gunakan enrichmentnya.
Jadi enrichment itu ada yang bentuknya bijian, ada pohon dalam kandang, pipa dikasih bijian, jadi nanti dia ambil satu-satu kaya gitu. Biji-bijiannya itu kuaci sama jagung, kadang kacang tanah gitu kan. Tapi kalau kacang tanah agak dikurangin, karena takut kegemukan. Terus ada bola juga atau pelampung, kalau dulu sih pake bola plastik yang 5ribuan itu, ternyata gampang rusak. Pelampungnya dibolongin juga, jadi sama cara kerjanya sama pipa itu, cuma kalau pipa bisa buat naik ke atas. Kalau bola hanya didorong2 aja biar keluar biji kuacinya.
Kalau dibanding macaca, rimba lebih sering minum. Ketika dikasih madu nih, kan biasanya madu dikasih di dalam pipa ini, nanti dia ambil. Namun, rimba ini anehnya setiap jilat madu nanti dia pasti ambil aer. Mungkin karena seret kali yah.
Untuk pemberian enrichment ini ada pelatihan khususnya gak sih?
Iya, pernah dikasih pelatihan untuk belajar enrichment untuk satwa di pusat rehabilitasi Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS), Samboja, Kalimantan Timur. Disana dilatih untuk melihat perilaku satwanya. Kalau dulu sih pesannya, kasih aja dulu cobain ke satwanya. Kalau pembuatan enrichment sendiri bebas mau bentuknya seperti apa, bebas bereksperimen. Tapi, sekarang ada patokannya misalnya pengurangan botol plastic, karena kalau dulu monyet sering dilepaskan ke pantai yang banyak sampah plastik. Jadi, pengurangan plastik itu untuk mengantisipasi sampah yang banyak di pantai.

Jenis enrichment macam-macam bentuknya. Ada yang kandang tematik tuh, jadi ada taman bermain, sungai, air terjun di tiap kandang itu. Nah, kalau hasil dari pelatihan itu tuh, saya sharing dengan teman-teman keeper gimana bikin tempat-tempat kaya gini gitu.
Untuk apa sih enrichment itu?
Kalau primata itu ada perilaku abnormalnya, misalnya kaya gigit-gigit barang atau mondar-mandir di kandang. Untuk mengurangi perilakunya ini kita kasih enrichment. Ada yang berkurang perilaku abnormalnya, namun ada juga yang tetap berperilaku begitu. Nah, biasanya kita akan gabungkan dengan primata lainnya, misalnya monyet sendiri di kandang, nah kita gabungkan dengan monyet lainnya. Biasanya agak berkurang abnormalnya.
Makanya sebanyak apapun enrichment yang kita kasih di kandang, gak akan sebebas dia di alam. Kalau keeper ya intinya memberikan yang terbaik untuk kesejahteraan dia di kandang, animal welfarenya terpenuhi lah di kandang, keterbatassan dia berekspresi bebas, terus biar dia kembali ke perilaku liar dia.
