BKSDA Aceh Evakuasi Owa Peliharaan Warga

Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Aceh melalui Resor Konservasi Wilayah 12 Aceh Utara Seksi Konservasi Wilayah I Lhokseumawe mengevakuasi seekor owa siamang yang dipelihara warga di Kabupaten Bireuen.

Kepala Resor Konservasi Wilayah 12 KSDA Aceh Utara Nurdin, dikutip dari laman Antara, Sabtu (22/10/2022) mengatakan, evakuasi berlangsung setelah warga yang memelihara menyerahkannya ke BKSDA.

“Satwa tersebut sempat dirawat warga Desa Pandrah Kandeh, Kecamatan Pandrah, Kabupaten Bireuen, itu sejak tujuh tahun lalu. Penyerahan satwa dilindungi itu berlangsung Kamis (20/10),” Nurdin.

Owa siamang dengan nama latin symphalangus syndactylus adalah kera hitam yang berlengan panjang, dan hidup di pepohonan. Owa siamang merupakan spesies terancam punah di alam karena penyusutan kawasan hutan yang menjadi habitatnya.

Nurdin mengatakan warga tersebut mendapatkan owa siamang itu dengan cara membelinya saat berusia satu tahun. Owa siamang yang diserahkan itu berjenis kelamin jantan dan diperkirakan berusia sekitar delapan tahun.

“Yang bersangkutan menyerahkan satwa dilindungi itu kepada BKSDA dalam kondisi sehat, dan aktif secara visual. Namun begitu, kami akan memeriksa lebih lanjut satwa tersebut,” kata Nurdin.

Menurut Nurdin, pihaknya akan mengobservasi satwa tersebut karena dipelihara sejak berusia satu tahun. Jika kondisinya sudah siap, maka selanjutnya satwa dilindungi itu dilepas kembali ke habitat.

Nurdin mengimbau masyarakat menemukan dan memelihara satwa yang masuk dalam kategori dilindungi agar dapat memberitahukan BKSDA. Penguasaan satwa dilindungi tanpa izin merupakan pelanggaran undang-undang

“Satwa dilindungi ini harus diselamatkan dan selanjutnya akan dilepaskan kembali ke habitatnya. Kami mengapresiasi warga yang suka rela menyerahkan owa siamang tersebut,” kata Nurdin.
