2 Owa Kalawat Diterima BKSDA Kalimantan Tengah dari Jawa Timur

2 ekor owa kalawat (Hylobates muelleri) berasal dari Jawa Timur tiba di Bandara Tjilik Riwut, Palangka Raya, Kalimantan Tengah pada Sabtu (12/03/2022). Keduanya diterima oleh Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Kalimantan Tengah dari Balai Besar KSDA Jawa Timur

Dua owa kalawat berjenis kelamin jantan dan betina tersebut merupakan serahan dari masyarakat. Demi pelepasliarannya, kedua satwa dilindungi ini dikembalikan ke habitatnya di Kalimantan.

Kepala BKSDA Kalteng, Nur Patria Kurniawan melalui Kepala Seksi Konservasi Wilayah I Palangka Raya, Junaedy Slamet Wibowo mengatakan Satwa Owa-owa tersebut rencananya akan dilakukan rehabilitasi sebelum dikembalikan ke habitatnya.

“Karena satwa ini habitatnya di Kalimantan maka diserahkan kepada kami untuk selanjutnya dilakukan proses penyelamatan melalui rehabilitasi dan dikembalikan ke habitatnya,” ucapnya seperti dilansir dari borneonews.co.id

Nur menuturkan saat ini kedua owa kalawat sedang berada di kandang transit BKSDA Kalteng untuk dilakukan observasi terhadap perilaku dan kesehatannya, hingga dinyatakan layak untuk dilepaskan kembali ke habitatnya.

Ia pun mengajak masyarakat untuk menyerahkan satwa dilindungi yang ditemukan atau dipelihara ke BKSDA Kalteng.
