Seorang warga Kota Pekanbaru, Reslita menyerahkan seekor owa ungko (Hylobates agilis) ke Balai Besar Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BBKSDA) Riau.
Owa berumur sekitar 7,5 tahun yang diberi nama Momo itu kini dirawat di kandang transit BBKSDA Riau untuk diobservasi oleh petugas medis.
Humas BBKSDA Riau, Dian Indriyati mengatakan bahwa owa ungko tersebut didapatkan Reslita dari pasar hewan ketika berusia 5 bulan.
“Reslita membeli hewan itu lantaran kasihan. Ia baru mengetahui setelah dirawat selama tujuh tahun bahwa owa tersebut merupakan salah satu satwa yang dilindungi,” ujarnya seperti dilansir dari riaubisa.com

Reslita, lanjutnya, bahkan sudah menganggap Momo seperti anaknya sendiri. Bahkan diberikan makanan layaknya manusia, seperti sate dan minum teh.
“Saat diantarkan owa ungko berjenis kelamin betina ini dalam kondisi baik dan terawat. Hal itu tampak tak adanya luka maupun sayatan saat pemiliknya mengantarkan ke BBKSDA Riau,” kata Dian.

Dian menuturkan saat ini Momo telah berada di kandang transit dan tergantung bagaimana primata ini dapat beradaptasi di tempat baru.
“Sebab tiap satwa ini berbeda-beda masa adaptasinya. Jadi kita tidak memaksakan. Bila tim medis dan perawat satwa menilai owa ungko ini sudah layak dilepasliarkan, maka akan segera kami lakukan,” tuturnya.
Pihaknya berharap makin banyak pihak yang sadar akan konservasi satwa, sehingga menyerahkan satwa dilindungi yang dipeliharanya ke Kantor BBKSDA Riau.
Owa ungko sendiri merupakan salah satu satwa yang masuk ke dalam daftar satwa dilindungi oleh pemerintah Indonesia. Kepemilikan maupun pemeliharaan satwa ini dapat dijerat perkara hukum sesuai dengan Undang-Undang No. 5 Tahun 1990 tentang Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam dan Ekosistemnya.
