Polres Katingan menyerahkan empat satwa liar yang selama ini dilindungi oleh negara. Keempat satwa tersebut antara lain satu orangutan, dua uwak-uwak (kalawet) dan satu beruang madu.
Keempat satwa tersebut diserahkan secara simbolis oleh Kapolres Katingan AKBP Ivan Aditya Nugraha kepada Kepala Seksi Konservasi Wilayah (SKW) I, Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Kalteng, Junaedy Slamet Wibowo disaksikan Pengendali Ekosistem Hutan (PEH) Seksi Wilayah 1 Palangkaraya, Nandang Hermawan.
“Ya sebelumnya tim gabungan yang terdiri dari Polsek Katingan Hulu, BOS Foundation dan BKSDA dipimpin Kapolsek Katingan Hulu Ipda Firman Ernanto telah mengamankan beberapa satwa yang dilindungi dan dipelihara oleh warga di Tumbang Sanamang, Kecamatan Katingan Hulu Kabupaten Katingan,” kata Kapolres Ivan.
Ia melanjutkan warga yang sebelumnya menemukan atau memelihara hewan dilindungi tersebut secara sukarela menyerahkan hewan-hewan itu kepada Polsek Katingan Hulu.
Di tempat yang sama, Kepala Seksi Konservasi Wilayah (SKW) I, Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Kalteng, Junaedy Slamet Wibowo mengatakan satu dari empat satwa liar itu sudah dikirim ke Palangka Raya.
“Dari empat hewan yang dilindungi yang hari ini diserahkan oleh pihak Polres Katingan, satu hewan lainnya yaitu beruang madu sudah lebih dulu dikirim ke BKSDA Palangkaraya tadi, karena stres saat dalam perjalanan,” ujar Junaedy Slamet Wibowo.
