Air dan Api Diserahkan ke BKSDA Resor Sampit

Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Resor Sampit, Kalimantang Tengah, menerima dua ekor owa jenggot putih (Hylobates albibarbis) jantan yang diserahkan secara sukarela oleh seorang warga, Lia Cristin, pada Selasa (5/11).

Penyerahan dilakukan di kediamannya di Jalan Cilik Riwut, Sampit, dengan pengawasan ketat dari tim Wildlife Rescue Unit (WRU) Seksi Konservasi Wilayah (SKW) 2 bersama petugas Resor Sampit.

Kedua owa yang diberi nama Air dan Api tersebut berada dalam kondisi yang berbeda. “Air terlihat sehat, sementara Api membutuhkan perhatian lebih karena cedera ringan pada kakinya,” ujar Muriansyah, Komandan BKSDA Resor Sampit. Ia menambahkan bahwa Api segera dibawa ke Pangkalan Bun untuk pemeriksaan dan penanganan medis lebih lanjut.

Proses serah terima berjalan lancar dan turut disaksikan oleh ketua RT setempat. Lia Cristin menjelaskan bahwa owa-owa ini berasal dari wilayah Lamandau, Kalimantan Tengah, dan dibawa ke Sampit oleh suaminya yang bekerja di sana. Selama dua bulan terakhir, Lia merawat keduanya dengan membiarkan mereka hidup bebas di pohon-pohon sekitar rumah tanpa kandang atau pengikatan.

Meskipun keduanya dirawat dengan baik, BKSDA menilai penting untuk memulangkan mereka ke habitat alaminya guna memastikan kelestarian populasi owa-owa. Sebelumnya, tim BKSDA melakukan pendekatan persuasif kepada Lia, menjelaskan pentingnya menjaga perilaku alami satwa liar serta risiko kesehatan yang mungkin muncul jika satwa dilindungi dipelihara tanpa pengetahuan yang memadai.

“Pendekatan persuasif ini kami lakukan sejak lima hari sebelum penyerahan untuk memastikan langkah ini berjalan baik dan sesuai dengan upaya konservasi,” tambah Muriansyah.

BKSDA juga mengapresiasi sikap Lia Cristin yang mendukung pelestarian satwa liar dengan menyerahkan Air dan Api secara sukarela. “Kami berharap tindakan ini menjadi contoh bagi masyarakat lain untuk lebih peduli terhadap satwa yang dilindungi,” tutupnya.

Penyerahan secara sukarela ini menjadi pengingat pentingnya kesadaran masyarakat terhadap konservasi satwa liar, terutama di Kalimantan Tengah yang merupakan rumah bagi banyak spesies dilindungi. Dengan kerja sama yang baik antara masyarakat dan pemerintah, pelestarian satwa liar dapat terus berjalan demi menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem.
